About Us
We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-run, urbanism-focused publication with news, commentary and analysis on urban affairs, sustainability, development, and transportation in British Columbia. Inspirations include The Urbanist (Seattle), Urban Toronto (Toronto), and Greater Greater Washington (DC).
Mission Statement
We explore British Columbia’s existing infrastructure and future developments, focusing on transit, planning, and communities, to understand how our cities’ past and future growth shapes urban life. We unabashedly believe in green, just, and affordable communities with more homes, more room to walk, bike and take transit, and more opportunities for all.
Land Acknowledgment
We write from the traditional, unceded, and ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples. We firmly believe that, in the design and governance of our communities, reconciliation must be integrated not only as a theory but also as a practice and an outcome in order to meaningfully create just communities.
Transit, especially railways and roadways, have played a key role in the past and ongoing colonization of First Peoples across the globe, and we are committed to the decolonization, reconciliation, and indigenization of transit.
